The Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education) (Hons) focuses on the education of children from birth to eight (8) years of age. The teaching profession and this quality ‘teacher training programme’ in particular have become a universal focus for sustainability in our society. As more and more parents rely upon childcare outside of their home, job opportunities for graduates of the Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education) (Hons) programme will continue to increase. Graduates are qualified to work in both the Private as well as in the Public Sector (MOA requirement) of the Education industry. Responsible positions can be found in day-care centres, pre-school centres, recreation centres, as an Educational Administrator or run a day-care business. The scope of child-oriented businesses is constantly expanding, and therefore, the opportunities for graduates in this field are virtually unlimited. The Programme
The Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education) (Hons) courses are structured so as to improve and enhance learners’ pedagogical abilities and teaching skills besides providing the necessary subject knowledge base, curriculum, pedagogical knowledge, management and entrepreneurship motivations. The Early Childhood Bachelor Programme is designed to develop professional experiences in conjunction with fostering a deeper understanding of local cultural realities and moral values.
Entry Requirements
- Passed STPM / A Level with at least full pass in 2 subjects with CGPA 2.00; or
- Passed Foundation / Matriculation (recognized by the Malaysian Ministry of Education) in related field; or
- Diploma in any equivalent qualification; or
- Equivalent qualification which is recognized by the Malaysian Government
English Proficiency Requirement
Malaysian Students
Students who enroll into Bachelor Degree programmes must fulfill the following English proficiency requirements:
- Students who have attained credit in the English Language from the SPM/SPMV level are required to take additional English courses depending on the level of proficiency.
- Students who do not have a credit in the English Language at the SPM/SPMV level are required to undergo the 'Intensive English Programme.'
- Students who have a distinction in the English Language at the SPM/SPMV level are not required to take additional English courses.
International Students

- Validity period of the IELTS or TOEFL qualification is two (2) years from the date of award. UNITAR does not accept any other English proficiency qualification or certificate except for the IELTS or TOEFL qualifications.
- International Students who do not possess either the IELTS or TOEFL qualification (or do not have the required score band) will be required to sit for the UNITAR-administered English Placement Test (UEPT).
- International Students who acquire the required score band of English based on the UEPT will be able to proceed to register for their faculty courses.
- International Students who acquire a lower score band of English based on the UEPT will be placed in the appropriate level of proficiency and are required to complete and pass an Intensive English Programme (IEP) before registering for their faculty courses.
